ISTMOB Will be Responsible for 20% of Turkey’s 2019 Export Target of the Furniture Industry

Monumental meeting event for the furniture industry, ISTMOB introduces Turkish furniture to the world

Adopting an export-oriented growth strategy, the Turkish furniture industry boasts its export range of more than 150 countries.  A key hub for accessing new markets, ISTMOB (Istanbul Furniture Fair) is promising substantial attendance from 30 countries where exports have gained momentum in the last year and is expected to generate a business volume of US$ 200 million.

The furniture industry, which is one of the main pillars of the Turkish economy, reaches over 150 countries as a result of its export-oriented growth strategy. With its diverse range of export destinations and markets, the Turkish furniture industry ranks 14th in the world in furniture manufacturing and 12th in exports, placing it under the spotlight of foreign investors. ISTMOB (Istanbul Furniture Fair), which will be held between January 22-27, 2019 at TUYAP Fair and Congress Center, is expected to create significant attendance from 30 countries where exports have gained momentum in the last year and targets to generate a business volume of US$ 200 million for the industry.

Emphasizing that the Turkish furniture industry focuses its sustainable growth strategy on export, İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of TÜYAP Fair and Fair Services said that 20% of the 2019 export target of the furniture industry will be accomplished during the fair.  Noting that the industry, which exports to a wide range of destinations from EU countries to the U.S.A., North Africa to Russia, is using its best efforts to reach new markets, Mr. Ersözlü commented that ISTMOB Istanbul Furniture Fair is the meeting platform to fulfill all expectations. Underlining that ISTMOB plays an important role in attaining the 2019 targets of the industry, Ersözlü added, “ISTMOB is the first fair of the industry in 2019. Therefore, we think that the business connections at the event will significantly drive growth for the industry. We are expecting noteworthy attendance of buyers delegations from the markets of United States, Germany, France, China, Russia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Romania and, at ISTMOB, we are working hard for these targeted markets. We believe that, once the targets are realized the industry will further strengthen its global position and reach its 2023 export volume target of US$ 10 billion. And, as we have always said, all the stakeholders of the industry will come to Turkey in January to establish significant business connections with the synergy of the all fairs. This synergy is an important parameter for the development of our industry.”

Remarking that the ISTMOB Istanbul Furniture Fair would be a networking platform to connect hundreds of businesses to boost the strength of the Turkish furniture industry to the next level, the General Manager of TÜYAP Fair and Fair Services İlhan Ersözlü also stated that the fair is organized with a different concept each year to provide brand-new privileges to the attendees.
